Trips Flood: a 7v7 flag football play
Three routes stretch the right side vertically: the outside receiver goes deep, the slot breaks out at 8 yards, and the running back leaks to the flat. With the extra 5 yards of width in 7v7, the flood side has room to breathe. The inside trips receiver runs a post, and the backside receiver runs a dig to punish a defense that rotates everyone over.

How Trips Flood works
- Z runs a go route on the right sideline.
- Y pushes 8 yards and breaks out.
- RB releases to the right flat.
- H runs a post; X runs a backside dig; C sits 4 yards off the line.
The quarterback's read
- Read the flood side top-down: go, out, flat.
- If the defense rotates three defenders to trips, throw the backside dig.
- The post is open when the middle defender widens.
Coaching points
- The out must break between the go and the flat.
- The running back gets depth past the line on the flat.
- Keep the trips spacing: 3 to 4 yards between receivers.
When to call it
Third and medium against zone, and in the red zone.
For youth teams
10 and up. Name the trips side ('Trips right flood') for fast calling.

Legal as drawn, and legal inside the no-run zone because every catch is beyond the line. IFAF 7v7 uses the same rules as 5v5 on a 30-yard-wide field.
