Jet Motion Fake: a 7v7 flag football play
A receiver goes in jet motion across the formation. At the snap the QB fakes the hand-off to them as they pass, and the defense flows with the motion. The QB then throws to the side the motion left: a slant, a leaking center, or the running back in the flat.

How Jet Motion Fake works
- H goes in motion across the formation, flat to the line (dashed).
- QB fakes the hand-off to H at the snap.
- X slants, C leaks left, RB runs to the left flat.
- Y and Z run go routes on the motion side to sell the flow.
The quarterback's read
- After the fake, look left.
- Slant first, then the leaking center, then the RB flat.
Coaching points
- The motion must be flat or slightly backward. Moving toward the goal line at the snap is illegal.
- Everyone else is set and still before the motion starts.
- The fake is quick: a fake hand-off releases the rushers and doesn't stop the clock.
When to call it
After you've run a real jet sweep or two, or any time the defense chases motion.
For youth teams
Easy: the fake is simple and the throws are short.
Rules check
IFAF (5v5, 7v7 and beach)
One player may be in motion at the snap, as long as they aren't moving toward the opponent's goal line (R 7-1-3-d). Any shift before that must end with everyone still for one full second (R 2-8-1). The fake hand-off releases defenders within 7 yards (R 7-1-4-f) and does not stop the pass clock, so throw quickly.
